A solar is actually more accurately called a photovoltaic module. When the sun rays shine on the photovoltaic module, electricity is produced through what is called the photovoltaic effect. Each photovoltaic module is made up of several small photovoltaic cells. These small cells produce a very small amount of electricity by themselves. When wired together in an array, the desired amount of voltage can be reached. Solar panels generally come in 12, 24, 36, or 48 volt configurations. Actually to be more accurate if that individual wants a 48 volt solar system, 12 volt solar panels are generally wired together in such a way as to make one 48 volt panel. Solar panels are either made up of micro crystalline cells or thin film cells with the more common type being micro crystalline. Solar lights information can be found in many places on the Internet if you’re interested in building a solar light system
