What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a permanent way of replacing teeth lost due to disease or injury. And although they are expensive, the cost of dental implants may end up being less than the cost of traditional tooth restoration over a lifetime, depending on your particular situation.

A dental implant is a rod made of titanium or a titanium alloy shaped like the root of a tooth. It’s inserted into the jawbone, then what’s called an abutment is inserted into the implant and finally a crown, a replica of your tooth, is fitted onto the abutment. This structure is not going anywhere. It’s like you never lost your tooth at all!

This alone makes replacing a missing tooth with a permanent dental implant an attractive option worth considering.
