Using Ceiling Fans Efficiently

Ceiling fans are very useful items to have both inside and outside of your home. Their basic function is to provide a constant flow of air throughout a living space. The air movement keeps the air fresh and also helps to eliminate odor. In smaller rooms with high humidity, the air movement helps prevent dampness on furniture or bedding, which could lead to mildew if the room is unused for an extended period.

The more desirable fans have an adjustment that allows the owner to direct the air flow up toward the ceiling or down toward the floor. Since warm air rises, the owner can use the adjustment in the winter to direct the air flow toward the floor. This increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall heating system and eliminates any “hot spots” in a room. In the summer, the owner can direct the air flow toward the ceiling. This time, the ceiling fan increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall cooling system and eliminates any “cold spots”. Instead, cool air is distributed throughout the space for the ultimate in a pleasant environment.
