There are a variety of different door locks available to you to retro fit to your doors, some are dore type specific – such as sliding doors – but some will happily fit to most types of door. Lets look at the types available: The Mortise Door Lock - This is the securest type of lock that money can buy. Then there’s the Mortise Sashlock – combination of a mortise and a sash lock. Very popular in the UK is the Cylinder Lock – you can shut the door from the outside and that’s it. An advancement on the cylinder lock is the Deadlock Cylinder Lock it is more secure than the Cylinder only lock. There are then the accessories that you can use alongside your front door lock such as a door chain – allow you to part open the door and a door bolt.
