Learning how to hunt coyotes can become very useful in certain regions of the United States. Coyotes offer a great source of meat protein, fur pelts for camp bedding, and hunting them just may save the non-game animals in the local area of the hunter. Coyotes are poachers so many states have allowed the hunting of these creatures during normal hunting seasons. Before hunting coyote make sure that all licensing and guideline requirements are met.
Hunting for this animal is truly an outdoor adventure. The basic tools of hunting such as a hunting rifle, scope, and of course ammunition will be needed. A coyote call is also a good tool to have but it is not necessary. When choosing a rifle for the hunt it is best to use a weapon along the lines of a .22 caliber rifle.
These rifles are carried at most hunting, or gun stores, and are equipped to have a scope mounted temporarily or permanently on them. A rifle that fires from either barrel is also a good idea. This is helpful for the coyotes that decide to get within a few yards of the hunter.
Locate an area for the hunting that suits the hunters’ needs. If the coyote is located on private property then permission will need to be granted before starting. Coyotes are found in the open where scrub brush and other vegetation is sparse. Deserts are a good place to locate the animal.
Find an ambush point and use the coyote call or wait until the animal gets within range. Make sure to be placed downwind and aiming properly. Set the scope, line up the target, and fire. It may take several tries because if the shot misses, the coyote does flee quickly. However, with patience and a good rifle the hunting trip for coyote will be successful.
