For a truly unusual handmade Christmas decoration check out temari balls. These are ancient Japanese folk art of embroidered balls. The ball can be any material many use Styrofoam balls but you can use felt or wood chippings surprisingly. The ball is wrapped in yarn, then thread (cotton). each layer is random and makes an eye pleasing pattern. The final and most amazing part is the embroidery that goes on the top and show the most amazing designs like this snowflake Christmas Ornament. Embroidery thread is used to hand sew guidelines around the ball which are used to sew the designs around. Each one is unique, a thread can be used to hang them from your tree, or they can be used as accent decorations wherever you like.
