It’s pretty amazing how breakthroughs in science and technology make it into everyday products and just make them so much better and easier to use. This is very true with sports equipment like shoes and clothing. Another sport that’s definitely affected by technological breakthroughs is downhill skiing (alpine skiing).
From ski jackets to boots to hats and gloves, new fabrics, materials, and new designs have changed skiing in the last 10 years. Take skis for example. Shaped skis have revolutionized downhill skiing. It’s now much easier to turn and stop with shaped skis. People can learn to ski in less time and have more control than with the traditional straight skis.
In addition to skis, even clothes like ski pants and ski jackets are made with materials that keep you dry and warm. They block the wind better so that you can stay out on the snow longer and have more fun.
