Spring and summer are my favorite times of the year. I love gardening, hiking, swimming, and bird watching—just being outside and enjoying nature. One day at an outdoor market, I came across bunches of bright, colorful dried straw flowers. In that moment was born the idea to capture spring and summer for winter enjoyment by drying flowers.
I decided to start with straw flowers and statice. Both grow well in the Pacific Northwest and are not difficult to grow. However, I did spend some time at the library, getting as much information as I could gather about growing the flowers. One thing I was sure of. I would need good quality fresh flowers to obtain good dried flowers. After my first season of enjoying the gardening, then the drying process, then creation of projects with my flowers, I was hooked.
