Solar lights use a photo voltaic cell to convert the suns rays into a charge which in turn is stored in a battery contained within the housing of the light. The photo voltaic cell needs to be in a position that ensures that it receives as much of the suns rays during daylight hours as possible. Without these suns rays the solar light will not receive sufficient charge to maintain a good level of lighting for a long enough period.
Solar lights are controlled by a light sensitive switch which during the day prevents the light from turning on and using up the stored energy. As light levels fall the switch trips and the light comes on. Solar garden lights are great for placing in your garden. They are quick and easy to install and can created wonderful lighting effects.
