There is something different about flying over the open ocean than flying across land. Maybe it is just knowing that there isn’t any place to land a large jet in an emergency, or at night looking down and seeing nothing but the black expanse of the sea. I think this is why I dislike taking any flight to Honolulu; they just scare me more than normal! I remember one flight when there was some moderate turbulence and just seeing the wings bounce up and down a bit freaked me out; I almost had to head to the bathroom! These days I look for other travel options to Hawaii, or any other destination that is overseas. It is for people like me that we need an interstate highway across the Pacific Ocean!
