Safe Paintball Adventures

Way back in 1924, an author by the name of Richard Connell wrote a novel called The Most Dangerous Game, in which a big game hunter is stranded on an island, where he himself becomes the object of a hunt by a sadist who enjoys stalking human prey. The story caught the popular imagination, and several movies of it were made. There also have been a few TV versions.

So it’s no surprise that in 1976, a group of friends got together and decided they wanted to play such a game themselves – only a non-lethal one. They came up with the idea of paintball, it became popular, in the 1980s it became more sophisticated, and today the sport continues to grow.

So what kind of paintball adventures can a player have today?

Games can be played both indoors and outdoors. Rules of the game are discussed before the game starts – and they can be anything. A game can consist of “capture the flag,” or an “elimination” game where no player on the opposing team can be left standing. “Woodsball” is played in woods, as the name implies, and can take all day to play, while speedball is played in a smaller area and usually doesn’t last more than five minutes.

Scenario paintball is perhaps the most of all. In this game, the players recreate famous battles from various wars, or invent their own scenarios to play. Scenario paintball is typically played by Civil War or World War II enthusiasts, although players have been known to attempt to recreate battles from many other wars. The scenarios don’t have to be from real life, either, many players create scenarios based on their favorite video games.

In order to be safe, players must wear heavy clothing (getting hit with a paintball stings and can leave bruises) and a full-face mask. Learn more safe paintball adventures with Spyder Pilot paintball marker or Proto Matrix paintball marker.
