Purposes of a Treadmill Mat

A treadmill mat is a durable cushion that goes underneath the treadmill. It serves many purposes but one of the most significant purposes is as a shock absorber. The vibrating of the treadmill in use creates a lot of physical stress on the floor and the treadmill mat cushions the impact as well as distributes it more evenly. In the same way it also protects the treadmill from the reverberation that would bounce off the floor and back into the treadmill. All that extra reverberation would go a long way shortening the life of your treadmill.

The other important purpose is the noise reduction a treadmill mat offers. Because all the vibration energy is absorbed properly, the clanking is softened and if there are other people in the house, they will thank you for having a mat under the treadmill. Of course, more likely they wouldn’t notice until you take the mat out. But there is no reason for that.

A less important purpose is for aesthetics. Some people have the treadmill as the center of a room and like to ground it with a treadmill mat. Sure the mat will definitely serve all those purposes mentioned above, that is, if it is even used at all.
