Powerlifting – What’s It All About?

Powerlifting is a professional sport, although it can be practiced by amateurs, which is very similar to weightlifting and often confused with it. On a powerlifting competition three disciplines are performed: deadlift, bench press and squat. For each of these events the lifter has three attempts. If he doesn’t succeed in at least one attempt in each of the events he is disqualified.

Powerlifting usually requires heavy strength training alongside training of other abilities like explosive speed. Equipment for this sport can be found in almost all gyms in the World. All you need to have is a barbell with weight plates, bench for pressing and squat rack for squatting.

Powerlifting Academy is one of the best places on the Internet to get acquainted with this sport and learn why it is so popular.
