Perfume Review: Rumeur 2 Rose by Lanvin

Rumeur 2 was launched in 2006, two years after its predecessor, but it’s a completely different perfume. Whereas Rumeur 1 was almost completely floral, this number 2 is loaded with citrus notes, with only light traces of florals.
In this sense, Rumeur is a Lanvin perfume brand, which seems to be used for any brand new fragrance, which doesn’t have any relation with any previous creation of the perfume house. This is probably a limited edition, as it is not in the official perfume list in the perfume house’s website.
The opening notes are lemon zest, a very pleasant and natural aroma, which reminds of the first notes of Ralph Lauren perfume Romance. The freshness of this fragrance is balanced by traces of mandarin and green notes like basil or other kitchen herbs. This addition creates a balanced structure, keeps a feminine style, and preventing this perfume from becoming an after sport or a totally summer cologne.
In the middle notes, lemon changes into a sweet grapefruit on top of a green base of rosemary and basil, plus a sweet undefined fruit, mixed with an also sweet musk.
As the middle notes come closer, the citrus base becomes more and more aromatic. In the base notes the transition from lemon to orange is complete: the citrus notes provide support for an intense musk, in a way which reminds of Jennifer Lopez Glow perfume.
The style if this perfume is quite young, as it’s almost entirely based on very fresh and pleasant fruits, and keeps a high intensity throughout its phases. It’s most suitable for a summer use, especially in a work environment, where it projects a clean and professional image, although it perhaps lacks of authority.
For an evening use, it’s at ease in very warm evenings, in completely informal situations. On the romantic side, it’s more feminine than sensual. Age range between 20 and 45 years.
