Recently I came across some instructions for hand made roller blinds, and as I was thinking about putting some in my study I thought that I would see if I could make some myself. I went out to a local curtain store and actually managed to find a roller blind kit, which included all the accessories needed to not only make but also to hang my blind.
My first step was finding suitable material to make the blind out of. I chose a thick, hessian type of material. It was fairly thick but still I decided to use the stiffening solution that came with my kit to treat it. I needed to wait a while for the material to dry, but once it was done I was able to quickly assemble the blind, attach all the accessories and hang it just within a couple of hours.
Visitors have commented very positively on my new rustic-look, hessian roller blind and they’re always very surprised when I tell them that I made it myself. I think I’ll find quite a few new roller blinds going up now in my friends’ houses!
