Is Quick Weight Loss Healthy?

There are a lot of really good questions to be raised about the overall health value of quick weight loss programs, and a lot of the time those questions only come up outside of the circles that have “bought in” to the programs. If someone is tremendously obese, I think that most medical professionals would agree that the risks associated with rapid weight loss outweigh the benefits of slimming down quickly.

But for average people who are only a little overweight, the picture is much less clear. Quick weight loss allows the dieter a sense of immediate gratification that many more slow, steady approaches might not. But there may be certain risks involved that, for a healthy person, might mean that these types of diets are not ideal.
