Coping with dementia is very hard. When people get demented, they change in behaviour and intellect. They start forgetting, names, things that happened or where they put their keys. This could oftend lead to confrontations with their caregivers. Often there is one primary caregiver who will have to stay on watch for almost 24 hours a day. Without the primary caregiver, the person would need to go to a nursery home. The stress caused by caring for people with demention is called caregiver burden. How hard coping with dementia is, is highly underestimated. Always ask a psychologist for help in the primary care. Also consider a daycare program to find some relief for yourself. A psychologist could give you tips about how to cope with dementia. Help could be just one call away.
