How Does one use Boot Camp

One may not have the slightest idea on how to use boot camp unless of course he or she first understands what it is. Boot camp is a part of the operating system Apple’s OX X.5 (Leopard) and it creates a chance for the users of Mac to duplicate software (Microsoft Window’s) on the computers, a process that is a necessity if one wants to run programs that are non-Macintosh.

Focusing on functionality, windows that are running on Mac that is standard are virtually the same as those running on a PC that is standard. This is advantageous to the users at it enable them to pick the benefits linked to running of windows. The process of setting boot camp as well as using it is easy especially for those that are familiar with computer technology.

The first step in using boot camp is to ensure that one has enough hard drive space that can support window separation. The minimum space should be at least five gigabytes. One just needs to double click on the icon (hard drive) and will verify the remaining space. One will know the size of his or her hard drive as well as the amount of the data on the computer by clicking on the hard drive, highlighting it and then choose “Get Information” located below the “File menu.”

The second step would be to update all the Apple software by going to the “Apple Menu” on the upper side of the screen and select “software update.” After running the updates, one should reboot his or her Mac and then open the “Applications” folder and then open the “Utilities folder” before selecting “Boot Camp Assistant.” The other step would be to double click on the icon “Boot Camp Assistant” so as to start it. On the first window, one should choose “continue” and on the second one, choose either 32GB or 5GB (this is the amount of space that is on the hard drive to be used for the partitioning of the Windows) though one can also partition the hard drive evenly in two partitions. After that, click “Continue.”

On the third window, one is needed to begin the installation of windows. Next, reboot the Mac after completing the installation. Install more drivers and software that are needed by Boot camp. One should then begin the windows launch by restarting Mac as one hold the Option key down and finally install different windows security patches and updates.
