Everyone has one in their collection, it may a vintage glass Christmas ornament or even a clear glass Christmas ornament, but it’s the basic element of Christmas decorations.
The first mass produced Christmas ornaments were glass, basic balls and then handpainted German glass Christmas ornaments. These can still be found today, made by traditional methods.
Why do we use glass Christmas tree ornaments? Well I think it has to do with the way the light plays on the glass and provides reflections of many different colors. Glass always looks good with string or fairy lights to provide the light for the glass to reflect. Glass Christmas balls have been mostly replaced by plastic, but if you look around you will still be able to find glass Christmas ornaments to hang on your tree.
