If you know that a friend or member of your family are about to acquire a new dog and it around Christmas or the time of their birthday then you might like to consider buying them a dog related gift. Gifts can range from an inexpensive small chewy dog toy to a much more expensive dog kennel. The good thing is that there will be a gift to suit everyone’s wallet and the person who is being bought for will certainly appreciate having one less item to buy as kitting out a new dog can be expensive.
Most small dog accessories such as leads and bowls can be bought easily from your local pet store but, if you are feeling generous and would like to buy a dog home then you will need to do a bit more research first.
There are several things that you will need to find out. Firstly, what size is the dog going to be? A large dog will most certainly need a large dog kennel which will allow him to move about with ease. If the dog is going to be a puppy then think about how large he will be once he is fully grown. It is vitally important that a kennel is the appropriate size for the dog as a large dog will be most uncomfortable in a small dog kennel and a small dog will feel the cold in a kennel that is too large as his body heat will disperse too easily.
The other important factor to consider is what you would like the kennel to be made from. A plastic dog kennel is easy to clean and light to transport making it ideal for an indoor kennel or a for someone who transports their dog round a lot. A wooden dog kennel will be well insulated and perfect for dogs who are to sleep outside at night when the temperature drops.
