Getting through Drug Detox

If you are trying to get through detoxing from addictive drugs, especially opiate painkillers, then you should consider going to treatment in order to do so.  There you can get the help you need and also meet peers who are going through the same thing that you are going through.  This support is critical and if you don’t meet other people in early recovery who can help you then it will seriously lower your chances of staying clean for any length of time.

For the most part drug detox only lasts for a few days and in extreme cases maybe it will take a week.  The question you need to ask yourself is: “What am I going to do when all the dust settles?”  How are you going to function and deal with every day life?  That is the real challenge in getting detoxed.
