It’s hard to buy the right gift for a coworker around the holidays, especially if you really don’t know much about them or what they do outside the office. You can choose to get to know them a bit more in order to give them an appropriate gift. You can also choose to bet on a relatively generic gift that almost anyone could appreciate. No one will dislike getting a Christmas gift basket unless they are Jewish! A gift certificate to a store, bookstore or restaurant is another similarly anonymous gift that won’t surprise anyone, but also won’t frustrate them either. Just be sure that you don’t start giving these types of anonymous gifts to your close friends and family since they may begin to think that you don’t simply care any more!
