There are so many different futon mattress covers out there that a person can get very confused when choosing one. First, step back and look at the room that your futon sits in. Think through whether or not you want to create 4 different looks, one for each season or if you just want one look throughout the year. Don’t feel like you are stuck since a futon cover is not that expensive. If you choose one and you don’t like it, you can easily go and buy a new one.
When buying one, make sure that it is a good material. If you buy a cheap material to cover your mattress, the entire futon will look a lot cheaper than it is. Look at couches and sofas. The material that is used to cover them is very good and therefore, the couch looks nice. If you buy a nice suede or leather cover to go over your futon mattress, the entire futon will look a lot better. If you choose a cheaper cotton cover, then the futon will look more like it belongs in a college dorm room instead of an apartment or house.
Don’t forget, along with the cover goes the throw pillows and the blanket. These will complete the entire look. You can always just swap out the cover, but if you want to change the look of the futon, then you need to swap out the pillows and blanket as well. Choose your futon mattress covers carefully, but also have fun, decorating and changing a look should be fun.
