If you’re looking to upgrade your laptop and you’ve decided on installing new memory, you’ve probably gone to the manufacturers site and looked at what you need. Most computer manufacturers will tell you that you need their brand of memory, but that’s typically not true. If you can find cheap laptop memory that meets your laptops requirements then it will work. If it uses the same type of memory (DDR1, DDR2, DDR3) and the same pin configuration and speed then it will work. Laptop memory from your computers manufacturer will typically be 1/3rd more than generic memory from an online seller. In fact your laptop memory might be the exact same memory as the generic memory, just branded with their label. Sometimes it’s difficult to find the specs on your laptop to find out what memory it takes. It’s easier for the manufacturer to just sell you theirs, because they just hope you’ll get frustrated and give up.
