There are so many things that you have to worry about when you are a parent. So many things can arise with a young child. From cradle cap to diaper rash, you will find yourself faced with so many different little issues. The good news is, every child and every parent is faced with all of these little things. Causes of Childhood Diaper Rashes

There are so many reasons a child can develop a baby rash. They are common and most of the time easily treated with over the counter diaper creams. One of the most common causes of diaper rash is skin irritation from dirty diapers. Let’s face it. There are some situations where you cannot immediately change your child after they have a bowl movement. Sometimes those instances will cause your child to develop a rash. Other reason children develop diaper a rash is due to medications. Let’s say that your child has an ear infection or some kind of virus and they are on an antibiotic. Many antibiotics can be harsh on a young child’s stomach. They might cause some discomfort and do not be alarmed or surprised if they cause your child to have diarrhea or soft and lose bowl movements. As a result of this your child might suffer from a rash.

Besides the typical baby rash caused by chafing of the skin and irritation from being wet there are other reasons that a child will get a diaper rash. Some children suffer from underlying skin conditions that make them more susceptible to rashes. Impetigo, eczema and dermatitis are other reasons that children might suffer from repeated diaper rashes.

A tip to help deal with a baby rash flare up is to avoid substances that stress the skin. For example, stay away from harsh chemicals such as soaps that are scented, drying soaps and detergents. It will help to stay away from very hot water. It may dry out your skin which will compound the problem.

Wearing cotton clothes may help. Use soft fabrics and stay away from scratchy fabrics such as wool. Using petroleum jelly on the area may help keep it protected and hydrated. Moisturizing the skin will assist it with healing. Try relaxing the baby, as stress can cause a rash to worsen. Also changing from very cold to very hot environments where a person starts to sweat could cause it to get worse. Take a look at the environment and make changes there. Chances are a parent will be able to determine where the problem lies.
