Life is not always easy for the young driver. Car insurance is a new and recurring expense at a time when most people of this age do not have regular bills to worry about. Combining this with the fact that young drivers statistically pay a higher premium for their auto insurance compared to older drivers can make things even more difficult.
In many cases, the parent will simply place the new driver on the existing insurance plan covering the parent’s vehicle. This will give the parent, and thus the child, an automatic discount on the premium. In many cases, the auto insurance provider will provide an additional discount to the parent on his or her own car insurance for having more than one vehicle covered on the policy.
