A Grocery Shopping Experiment with Surprising Results

I have never been one for using grocery coupons. Usually, I go to the store and buy what I want, when I want. When I run out of something I go and buy more. My system is easy, but far from cost effective.

Last month I decided to do an experiment to see if I could actually be saving money with grocery discount coupons. I got a Sunday paper, and what was this? Two sets of coupons, I apparently had hit the jackpot unbeknownst to me. I started clipping, and sorting and organizing. When I was finally satisfied with my efforts I grabbed the grocery flier and headed off to the store.

Did I save money? The truth is that I did not expect to save much. How much did I save? To my utter shock, I saved over fifty bucks on just one shopping trip. With savings of over a couple hundred bucks a month I decided grocery coupons were worth the effort after all.
